Splendid Tea Pot Races
The 19th century industrial steam-powered machinery has been the inspiration for a modern day sport born in New Zealand and has geared up here in the USA. STEAMPUNK, a genre unknown to some, embraces science fantasy and aesthetic designs. Festivals are popping up all around the world where it has become a bit of story-telling, role playing and unique sporting events open to everyone with an imagination for what it would be if everything were powered by steam. Steam themed rodeos or in other words Splendid Teapot Racing is coming to Northwest Park in Manchester on November 5th 2022.
Teapot Racing is a sport that anyone can enjoy and those with a bit of skill handling a remote control vehicle will enjoy the thrill of the challenge of making it to the end. There are no barriers to participation, only the limit on imagination. As with any spectacular racing event, fantastic attire is encouraged but not mandatory. Spectators are welcome of all ages to cheer on the competitors, enjoy a cup of tea or lemonade and have a jolly good afternoon in the park.
What is a teapot racer? Good question, there are guidelines and specs for the experienced builders and drivers but basically a remote control vehicle that has been transformed into a unique vision inspired by teapots, steam power and mechanical bits and pieces. Each a one-of-a kind masterpiece worthy of being put on a pedestal.
This may be the first Splendid Teapot Race in Northwest Park and certainly not the last. Only the beginning of more to come.
Splendid Teapot Races
Get ready for a splendid fun time Saturday, Nov 5th noon- 4 pm. The teapot races are coming to Northwest Park. Make your way to the pavilion to participate, or just to cheer the drivers as they make their way through obstacles before them. Put on your Steampunk gear (or not), grab a cup of tea, and be ready for a jolly good time.
FREE to join in – bring your teapot-themed RC vehicle -suggested racers be 10 years old and up. If you have never heard of this new sport spreading across the country, do not worry, make sure to attend the Splendid Teapot Races at Northwest Park!
Please NOTE: younger ones are welcome to cheer on the racers and have some fun in a spot of tea or lemonade when accompanied by a parent or adult
