Meet the Community “Y” Personal Trainers
Are you still trying to start off your New Year’s resolution? Are you looking for a quiet and safe setting to work out in? Do you have questions on how to start a workout plan? Well, here at the Community Y Fitness Center we can make all of these accommodations for you.
The reopening of the Community Y brings the opportunity to take advantage of the two new personal trainers that we have to offer. We want for you to get to know the trainers, a little bit of their history and knowledge they carry. Having this information may make it easier to decide if they are the answer to your fitness needs.
First we want to introduce you to Colleen Zimmer. Colleen has been a fitness instructor for the Town for many years. She has been certified since 2007 as a World Instructor Trainer. Colleen currently teaches our Barre and More, Pilates and Stretch and Meditation classes. I asked Colleen how she assesses her clients:
Colleen made it a point to tell me that she is consistently researching and taking classes to learn new techniques and ways to modify movements depending on the client’s skill level. Colleen works with all ages and skill levels. Colleen said “I work with seniors to keep their strength and balance. I’ve also worked with MARC (who assists people with disabilities) and taught fitness classes.” Colleen is very excited to offer this opportunity to clients here at the Community Y.

Our second personal trainer is Emmanuel “Manny” Caicedo. Manny previously worked part time for the Department of Leisure, Families and Recreation for the past 8 years. He was a building director at the Community Y, he taught and oversaw a wide variety of classes through the department and was the boys’ varsity assistant soccer coach at Manchester High School.
Manny recently received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford. He is a certified Strength and Conditioning specialist and currently coaches for the New England Revolution as an academy coach. Manny’s focuses on technical development in all sport and age levels.
I asked Manny how he would assess new clients and how he would track their fitness goals. Manny’s response:
We are really excited and honored to have both Colleen and Manny as part of the team. We really hope the community will be excited too. As you can see, we have two people who can facilitate for all skill levels and have history and knowledge in the fitness field. If you would like to inquire or sign up for classes you can call the Community Y at 860-647-3164. Pricing for personal training is as followed:
