Come work for the Recreation Division

Looking for the best summer job ever? Then look no further than the Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation. Our Recreation Division is currently hiring for all types of summer jobs: lifeguard, water safety instructor, camp counselor, officials, umpires, referees and youth sports coaches.  Why choose recreation? Besides spending the summer outdoors in the sun, it means you play a major role in enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Manchester. Going to a job you love every day is something everyone wants. If you have a passion for being outdoors, helping people and bettering your community, you may want to consider working for us.

Job opportunities are plentiful.  Let’s start with the water. Did you know there is a lifeguard shortage? Meaning there is lots of opportunity to work in and around the water. Lifeguards are highly-skilled important parts of public safety and have the opportunity to very positively impact the lives of everyone they encounter. Don’t be scared off by the training aspect; we will get you trained, certified and ready to sit in a guard chair this summer.

Are you thinking the water just isn’t your thing? How about working with the youth of our community as a camp counselor?  Being a camp counselor means being a role model for children, spending time outdoors, enjoying fun activities, building great friendships and literally having fun on the job. Sounds like the best job ever, right? It just might be!

Maybe you are an athlete and love the idea of coaching youth sports or officiating a basketball game.  We need you! Officiating is great if you are interested in being constantly active and closely involved with the game action. Coaches are mentors who enjoy shaping young athletes and sharing their love and knowledge of the sport with excited and enthusiastic ball players. No need to have a ton of experience, just a love of the game and a willingness to learn.

Earning money is always a good incentive to grab a summer job, but working for the Recreation Division offers a plethora of other benefits as well: making a difference in your community, learning how to save lives, staying in shape, becoming part of a team, building your resume, developing leadership and communication skills, flexing your creativity muscles and oh yeah, having FUN!!

By now you may be thinking one of these jobs is right for you.  Excellent, we want you as part of our team! Head over to Town of Manchester, CT] Recreation Part Time Application (seamlessdocs.com) and fill out your application today.  Once there, you will also be able to view detailed job descriptions, salary ranges and qualification requirements.  Don’t hesitate as the deadline for applications for summer employment is March 19.
