Winter/Spring Department Program Update

The health and safety of the community is top priority for the Town of Manchester. The Town of Manchester is taking actions that are reasonably necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the community to minimize the effect of the pandemic and to limit transmission of the COVID-19 Virus.

The Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation made the decision to modify in person programs and facilities hours, including the Fitness Center, beginning on February 22, 2021. The following program updates and modifications will be implemented:

  • Recreation Centers

The Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center will remain closed with access to the public by appointment only. The Mahoney Recreation Center will offer activity programming on a modified schedule. The Community Y Recreation Center will be open with a modified schedule. On-line or over the phone registrations are encouraged.

  • Community Y Fitness Center

In order to utilize the fitness room, a reservation will need to be made. Reservations can be made a week in advanced. The Center will be open Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-6:30 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The first blocked hour will begin at 8:30 AM and the last at 5:30 PM. Masks are mandatory to be worn when entering/exiting the facility and during the duration of the workout. Please see the Community Y Fitness Center Entrance Procedures.

  •  Parks and Park Amenities

All parks and trails are open for public use. Lighted ice skating is offered at Union Pond Park & Charter Oak Park when ice conditions are suitable. Ice skating is drop-in and unsupervised. Weather and ice conditions permitting. Tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, playgrounds are all open. Public restrooms are not open.

  • Early Childhood, Youth & Adult Recreation Programs

Early childhood and youth programs have been modified and adult classes will run with a modified schedule beginning February 22.

  •  Youth and Adult Organized Sports

All indoor youth and adult organized sports have been canceled.

  •  Youth Service Bureau

Northwest Park Early Childhood Center and the Teen Center and offices will remain closed to the public with access to staff by appointment only. Small group meetings will continue to occur virtually.
