Manchester’s Great Egg Hunt

The Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation wants to invite you to go on Manchester’s’ Great Egg Hunt – An EGGcellent Adventure for the entire community! This egg hunt will bring you on a family-friendly adventure through our parks across the Town of Manchester. We have hidden “M” eggs and one golden egg throughout the parks and we are challenging you to find them!
Once you come across one or all of the eggs, we invite you to take pictures and submit to our Instagram using the hashtag #manchestersEGGcellentadventure. The “M” eggs were designed and painted by local artists.
Egg Hunt Clues:
1. This egg is located at the home of the new and improved Teen Center. All of the programs at this location are no cost.
2. You’ll find this egg near the OurPark Shop, where you can see just how much “UR Community Cares.”
3. Park your car at Center Springs Park and head over to the Cheney Rail Trail. Walk up to the bridge on the trail and head south. As you walk along this trail, take in the beauty and know that this historic railroad was known as the longest privately owned passenger and freight railroad, as well as one of the shortest in America. This egg will be next to one of our new murals!
4. This egg is located in one of our parks at the beginning of the .8-mile trail that’s connected to it. The park and trail are on the west side of our 60-acre reservoir.
5. This park, once owned by the Cheney’s, was donated and now sits 2 dancing bears.
6. To find this egg, look where history’s heroes stand, a mural of courage, crafted by hand. From Martin to Harriet, John to Diane, their legacy of justice is where you’ll begin your plan. Search near their faces, bold and bright, Your egg hides where their spirits ignite.
7. At the time of its opening, this facility was the second largest secondary school in New England. You’ll find this egg accompanying an electric sign.
8. The golden egg is found on a site that provides milkweeds, nectar sources, and shelter needed to sustain monarch butterflies as they migrate through North America.
Throughout the week of April 14, we will be posting a clue a day on our social media channels with a picture of the egg. Take the clues that we provide and go out and find the eggs! We will also have QR codes at all of the locations that will give you the clues to the whereabouts of the eggs and how to submit your photos.
To submit your pictures, please visit: Manchester’s Great Egg Hunt
The first family to find all seven “M” eggs & the Golden Egg will receive a Golden Surprise! The Golden Egg is the most difficult to find – don’t be discouraged if you can’t find it! Those who find all “M” eggs will still receive a prize. Remember to submit all pictures of you or your child next to the egg to qualify for the prize.
All eggs will be posted in the parks from April 11 – 18. Come collect your prize on Saturday, April 19 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 at Charter Oak Park. We are excited for you to join us on this adventure and wish you luck on your hunt!
