Manchester Makes Meals: Amazing Ackee
Let’s get down to sharing our roots by exploring our cultural food & farming heritage!
Join the Town of Manchester’s Neighborhoods & Families Division for Manchester Makes Meals: Amazing Ackee on Thursday, February 17 from 6-7:30 PM at the Culture Lab at Mahoney Center, 110 Cedar Street.
Manchester Makes Meals is a series that explores the culinary stylings of various home & professional cooks, with February’s program highlighting chef Chantal Thomas, owner of Manchester’s own Amazing Ackee.
Thomas, who has owned & operated Amazing Ackee since 2017, will present her culinary specialties & stylings, including her variety of vegan patties that have made her a smash hit at the Spruce Street & Northwest Park Farmers Markets. Frozen patties will be available for purchase.
“In Jamaica, patties (especially beef & chicken) are our go-to breakfast, lunch, or snack meal. Our version stays true to its roots with a filling that is full of [flavor] and a gorgeous, flaky crust without the use of shortening or animal fat,” Thomas wrote on her website.
For more information on Chantal Thomas & Amazing Ackee, follow along on their Facebook page or visit their website to view their full menu.
The following session will occur on March 17; follow along on Better Manchester for the reveal of the featured presenter. For those looking for even more culinary-based programs, join us on April 14 for Manchester Makes Meals: Community Cookbook. During this session, participants will have the opportunity to bring in their own recipes inspired by their heritage that will be compiled to form the first-ever Manchester Makes Meals: Community Cookbook.
