Update from the Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation

The health and safety of the community is top priority of the Town of Manchester. The Town of Manchester is taking actions that are reasonably necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the community to minimize the effect of said emergency and to limit transmission of the COVID-19 Virus.

As a result of the rise in COVID cases, the Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation has made the decision to cancel in person programs and close facilities, including the Fitness Center, through February 19, 2021. In response, the Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation had implemented the following program updates and modifications:

 

Recreation Centers

All Recreation Centers (Mahoney Recreation Center, Community Y Recreation Center, Northwest Park Early Childhood Center, Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center) will close at the end of business on Friday, December 18. The Recreation Division main offices will remain closed to the public with access to staff by appointment only.

 

Parks and Park Amenities

All parks and trails are open for public use. Tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, playgrounds are all open. Public restrooms are not open.

 

Early Childhood, Youth & Adult Programs

All classes, programs and scheduled events that were to take place in January and early February are canceled. Credits will be given to all who have already registered for the first session of Winter/Spring classes.

 

Youth and Adult Organized Sports

All winter indoor youth and adult organized sports have been canceled.

 

Youth Service Bureau

Teen Center and offices will remain closed to the public with access to staff by appointment only.  Small group meetings will occur virtually where possible.
