Manchester Fishing Derby to be Cancelled
- James Przybylski
The popular event scheduled for May 9th at Salter’s Pond would have been the 43rd Annual Fishing Derby held by the Manchester Recreation Department in collaboration with the Manchester Lion’s Club. While Connecticut’s inland waters remain open, CDC recommendations suggest the activity should be enjoyed in a solitary manner, and because of this the decision has been made to cancel the fishing derby which was expected to draw 250 participants in 2020. Increased opportunity fishing can still be found at Center Springs Park which is stocked annually by the DEEP.
Information on other increased opportunity inland fisheries and obtaining a State of Connecticut fishing license can be found in this link. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pond in 2021.
