2020-2021 Manchester Youth Commission Recruitment

In 2008, the Manchester Board of Directors prompted the development of the Manchester Youth Commission. Close to 12 years later, the Commission is stronger than ever. “The Manchester Youth Commission is a diverse group of youth collaborating with local government in an effort to create open communication in the decision making process, making it possible to strengthen the community through the voice of the youth.” The Commission of 25 high school students provide advice, feedback, and address issues to ensure the ability for youth to thrive in the Manchester community. One of the remarkable characteristics is how the members truly represent the rich diversity in Manchester. The Commission works hard to serve the community, but it is not all work. We have a lot of fun too including an annual retreat, team building activities, and unique enrichment opportunities. Every year, however, we sadly have to say good-bye to Commissioners who are graduating. This year is particularly dramatic, losing more than half of our members. We are excited to see our leaders move on to impact others; yet it leaves us with many seats to fill! We are accepting applications TODAY!
If you know a young person currently in 8th-11th grade and is a resident of Manchester who is interested in making a difference, send them our way. It is a simple on-line application, 2 letters of recombination, and we will be conducting interviews for everyone who applies.
